10 Tips To Protect Yourself In A Rape Culture.

Hey Sisters  I know it sucks that we even have to think about this sort of thing because boys should be taught not to rape. We  shouldn’t have to learn how help prevent tourselfs from being raped. I am a rape survivor and I want this post to be a learning tool for my sisters around the world to help prevent them having to go through what I went through. I know this is stuff that alot of us have been taught since we were kids but it is good to have a refresher course and if you don’t know now you will.

1. Try to avoid walking alone at night especially in areas where there isn’t alot of foot traffic.

2. Don’t take drinks, cigarettes, food or anything you put into your body from people you dont know.

3. Be on alert even with guys you know (My best friend drugged and raped me)

4.. Dont get in the car with or go into someones house you don’t know

5. Check your local sex offender registry often

6. Watch out for your girlfriends

7. When your walking with headphones on have on out so you can hear what is going on around you.

8. Always be aware of your surroundings and who is around.

9. Do what ever you have to protect yourself (I carry a pocket knife in my bra and rocks in my purse)

10. Remember it is NEVER your fault if you are raped go immediately to the hospital to have a rape kit done and get emergency contraception. DONT TAKE A SHOWER OR CHANGE before you go to the hospitol you will wash away the evidence

I know that I targeted the girls in this post but remember rape can happen to ANYONE regardless of gender, age or sexual orientation so be on alert and use this tips.  Pass them along.
